Peter's Story

Peter Fahey, was a 23 year old tailor from Birr, who was shot at his home at 18 Usher's Island, during The 1916 Rising. He died from a "gunshot wound, (to the jaw) with no medical attendant" 'On the way to Jervis St Hospital', his young, pregnant wife, Catherine, was present at his death, 25 April 1916. They were married just 6 months earlier. He was buried in an unmarked grave in Glasnevin Cemetery. Catherine went on to remarry, and had 5 other children and made a new life for herself.

The purpose of this website is to raise funds to erect a grave marker for Peter. The quality of this marker will depend on the generosity of his sister Bridget's descendants. Would you like to help?

You can donate by clicking here, and hopefully we can mark Peter's grave, so that he will be forgotten no longer.
